I'd planned a good scramble off I-90 for the day (Alta Mountain), but woke up in my tent feeling funky. So I went for something much easier, Mount Catherine, which sees much less use. The temp was already above 80 F. when I parked, with just one party ahead of me, which turned out to be a young guy and his dog returning from their hike minutes later.
It would be another solo hike, nothing too remarkable, but with a scenic perspective from the apex, which is really the whole point of going up there. If you're counting, the hike is a steepish three miles round trip with a 1,300 foot gain. The funky feeling went up a notch on the way and back down as well. The truck said 90+ F. when I returned.
Back home later that day, Kris brought out the Covid-19 rapid test, and sure enough, I was positive! Ugh. I'd be spending at least the next five days in a spare room above the garage. Symptoms are mild, fortunately, and writing this a day later, I already feel a tad better. I have no obvious clue where I might have picked it up.
So will properly isolate, retest, and update when I'm back on the trail, hopefully in a week or so.
