Pretty exciting! My new full-color guide to Washington DC just posted to Amazon. Or you can order it from your local bookstore. (Might take a little longer. If needed, ISBN is 9780996225977.)
The book is called Ultimate DC: Travel-Walk-Explore, and is designed for active, independent travelers who want to experience the “real” DC. It’s based on a similar book I published back in 2016. That one was a finalist for an indy publisher award.
I think Ultimate DC is even better. It’s totally revamped, updated, better organized with a new title and slightly larger format. Hundreds of sites are described, including all the majors—monuments, memorials, museums, galleries, gardens, iconic buildings and historic neighborhoods—along with detailed descriptions and nearly two dozen walking maps.
There’s great info on how to get around by bike, on foot or via the city’s excellent Metro system (subway). I also included a synopsis of DC’s early history, tips for photographers, and a plug supporting DC’s quest to become our 51st state.
Kris and I were in DC this spring for Cherry Blossom Festival, and we can assure you that Washington DC is still a wonderful place to visit. Don’t let all the crazy politics hold you back.
If you know anyone headed that way, please do share!
